Claude Monnet

After more than 20 years of mixing, Claude Monnet truly deserves his nickname of the godfather. This is
no big surprise for those who know about his taste for Coppola's & Scorcese's films, for elaborate cuisine
and odd looks. Claude is actually of Italian origin, although he was born in Lyon and started hunting
around for old vinyl and playing in the local clubs in France and across the Italian border from the age
of 16.
His career really started in St Tropez in 1986 when he was resident in the mythical clubs: Le Bal &
Pigeonnier. Soon after, he started playing in clubs in Paris (Queen, Palace, Bains Douches…) and all
over the world from New York to Sydney and Tokyo.
Indeed Claude Monnet hasn't just been a DJ year after year; he has been producing his own music and
coming out with his own labels (SSOH, Mixture). His new project “BACK 2 FUNDAMENTAL” and his latest
single VOODDO BOUNCE (already supported by Joe Claussell, Jephte Guillaume, Louie Vega etc..) are
evidence of his eclectics, of his maturity and ability to get international night clubbers to groove on
jazzy, funky, Electronic, African, powerful and spicy rhythms which are the main foundations of his
music.
In the pipeline:
CLAUDE MONNET presents "BACK 2 FUNDAMENTALS"
This project should be the opportunity to get a more precise idea of how house music’s been perceived
in France. All the artists who appear on this project were asked to create a piece of music in which they
would express their vision of early house music, thanks to their primal influences.
What’s very exciting about this concept is the wide range of people involved, quite illustrative of the
impact on house music. From the emblematic Laurent Garnier to Dimitri from Paris, Julien Jabre, Dj
Gregory, Martin Solveig, Dj Fudge, Frank Roger, David Duriez, and many more...
FUNDAMENTALS will give you a unique opportunity to know what those folks are really at. Let there be
house!

Kris menace and lifelike – « Discopolis » Claude Monnet remix
One of the true underground tracks to emerge from Ibiza last year via French label Vulture Records -
home of Alan Braxe and Fred Falke. Christophe Hoeffel + Laurent Heinrich (Lifelike+Menace) have
created a truly unique single who’s main appeal is the anticipation it manages to attain before bursting
into ‘that’ sirens riff. Its slower than normal dance BPM does nothing to suppress the impact of this track,
in fact that again is part of its appeal, This is every ounce the chic simplistic but devasting release you
would expect to follow the superior standard of releases the uber cool French imprint Vulture has
previously unleashed. Exported to Defected in early 2006 it enjoyed massive support at the Miami
WMC, further confirming its unique hold of the Dance floor. Fellow Frenchman Claude Monet
emphasis’s the electronic aspects of the track and produces a Gorgio Moroder styled remix.
Torre – « Panache »
"
Long live France! Claude Monnet and his buddies are back with 3 new tracks (two dubs and one
‘main mix’ all looked after by Claude) in pure 70’s style that remind me greatly of the Giorgio
Moroder style. A sound that is rather electronic but to the right point and one that gets a sure
effect from the floor! How could I let this escape?!" Jamie Lewis – PURPLE MUSIC
Torre – « Baleora »
Claude Monnet’s latest smashing production is called « Baleora ». There is just no doubt that music
lovers will make this track theirs. Through this tune Claude has musically expressed a whole new
side of himself. A Balearic one. What an achievement! This track conveys a huge range of
feelings. Depending on your mood, you’ll experience ambivalent states and feelings: deep
pondering or pure bliss, sadness or joy, energy or languidness, maybe all of them at the same
time. Hold your breath and ride the boisterous and hypnotic piano, let yourself be carried away
by the strings and pads and follow the notes of the earthly bass. Alternately exciting and soothing,
Baleora is definitely a music celebration that will bring everyone to unison…
SUMO – « Nini » Claude Monnet remix
STORY OF THE TRACKS Disco. Afro. Disco. The idea of "Nini" was born back in 2004, the year when the style
of afro house erupted. While Combo and Alf Tumble were making their remix of Lonesome Echo Production's
"Spirit of Drums" they came up with two guitar hooks that they wanted to save for another occasion, for another
vocalist. (If you listen closely you can hear that both songs are based on the same harmonies). This second
release from SUMO's forthcoming album features Clarisse Muvemba, a young and upcoming Swedish soul
queen, who also speaks and sings in Lingala (spoken in Kongo). Obviously she's the woman behind the lyrics of
this irresistible afro-disco stomper. Kembela-kembela-kembela ye pima-a Zibula-zibula-zibula ye pima-e To
keep the disco vibe of this release intact, SUMO asked French top producer Claude Monnet if he could give the
song a new treatment. He came up with a formula which demanded more vocal work from Clarisse. A couple of
weeks later Claude delivered this spectacular, hi-nrg disco monster. Well done. During the additional vocal
recording the bonus track "Bo ningisa" was born. It simply means "shake it". Like they do in Kongo. So get up!

Torre – « Corps à Corps »
This disco excursion is a classy and sexy introduction for all sets, with a reference to the best time
of French Disco (Cerrone, Max Berlin). The spoken words bring even a little more personality.
Dimitri From Paris (France) // I loved "Corps à corps" from the first listen, it captures perfectly the
spirit of late 70's french sleazy disco, with an up to date sound. It went straight onto the tracklist of
my next compilation for Southport Weekender.
Laurent Garnier (FCom – France) // "Corps à Corps" is excellent .....it will go directly in my playlist
on the radio and in my flight case for this week end. Congratulation again, it’s an excellent track,
and thanks for that.
Jamie Lewis (Purple Music – Switzerland) // Since Miami never stop it to play. In fact my party
people singing the synt melody on the floor, for me its a fantastic « erotic » track. Floor reaction 10
out of 10 / personal 10+out of 10.
Alf & Combo (Sumo Boys – Sweden) // The production is top notch as usual. The vocals sounds
sexy. Also like how the song changes from the soft disco to more electronic chaos.
Dan (Liquid People) // I’ll try and stay calm – FUCKING BEST THING I’VE HEARD IN YEAAAAARS.
That’s as calm as I can be. Thank you, I love you.
Christian Larsson (Slip and Slide, Kickin Music Ltd – UK) // I really like this, very melodic, funky and
cool at the same time. Will be played and charted.
Mikael Nordgren (Tiger stripes/ Ibadan – Sweden) // I loved it. Very Sexy indeed!!! Cool and
special production 4-sure.

most of the time for pop artists as guitarist and arranger.“OCTOBER” features another new SSOH
